Health First Sefton Celebrates

Today the Sefton Health Champions held a celebration event at the Mons in Bootle. All  the health champions came and invited some people who have supported our work. The people who came were,  Louise from Sefton Council for Voluntary Services, Jenny from Sefton Clinical Commissioning Group, Terry and Vicci from the Get Healthy Get Active Team and Conal and Vicki from the Strand by Me Shop.

People First Merseyside Directors and paid workers also came to support us. We all had a carvery and pudding for lunch and  watched a power point film show about all the work we have done as health champions in Sefton.

After lunch the health champions gave a speech and each champions said what they had been doing.

Phil said,  “I am starting a non smoking clinic to help me”

Paul Walsh said,”I really enjoyed the roadshows at St Josephs”

Sarah said, “This is my favourite photo of me and the boccia balls looking like eyes”

Emma said, “I want to thank Karen for everything”

Nicola said, ” I really enjoyed the healthy cooking especially the healthy flapjacks”

Simon said,” I enjoyed the Strand By me roadshows and have started volunteering there now”

Lesley said, “It was great when we met Les Dennis on one of our healthy walks”

Rebecca said,” I though the emotions game was good, when we looked at mental health”

Cheryl said,” I enjoyed archery as I have never done it before”

Paul Ching said, ” I really enjoyed the dancing it was probably my favourite”

Rachel said, “I am a new champion and  it has been great learning the new stuff ”

Karen said, ” It’s been a great year and we have done 41 roadshows with over 300 people attending. The next part of this project is to focus on the health of our champions and we have some exciting training planned ahead. I am so proud of all the work and commitment of our health champions. Well done everyone!

Jenny from Sefton Clinical Commissioning Group gave Certificates and Presentation booklets out and said, ” Thank you for inviting me and we are really please to support this project and congratulate you on all your achievements”.

At the end of the event Sam Avery the comedien who ran our Well Funny workshops came and made us all laugh  with some jokes.
