Friday 13th January was our first Get Involved Group of 2017. Our meeting was chaired by Simon Walker he did a fantastic job.
Our first GIG of the year is always a reflective one and this year was no different.
We were very lucky that St Josephs host the meeting for us they made us very welcome.
The Theme for the meeting was The Future Together
Michelle Anglesea gave us a presentation about the Valuing People Partnership Board including where it all started with the Government and the Valuing People White Paper.
We talked about the involvement of people with learning disabilities in the work of the board and how that has changed since the beginning.
Some of the members of the GIG have been involved with the Partnership Board since its beginning 16 years ago and it is very different now.
We worked in groups to think about; what has been good about our work, what has changed and hoe you want to be involved in the work of the board in the future.
What people told us will be taken to the relaunch of the Valuing People Partnership Board meeting being held on Wednesday 25th January where we will share what people wanted.
It was a great day a huge thank you to St Josephs for making us feel so welcome.
