Sefton Health Champions Get Busy Learning and Keeping Fit

Sefton Health Champions had a busy day today. We attended the ‘Know Your Health’ event at Crosby Lakeside. This was an event for people with learning disabilities to learn more about health from a range of health professionals.

It was organised by Public Health England in partnership with People First Merseyside, Sefton Council, Merseycare and the 2 Sefton Clinical Commissioning Groups.

There was lots of information for the health champions and we all learnt something new. Paul said “I know how important it is to get my flu jab now”.

Lesley said “The breast screening information was very useful”

Emma said  “I learnt I need to use inderdental toothbrushes as well as my toothbrush to get bits of food out of my teeth”.

The health champions brought a lot of information back and will work on using some of it in their road shows.

In the afternoon, we continued with our plans to get more active and attended a very competitive boccia session at Bootle Leisure Centre organised by the Get healthy Get Active Team. There were 2 teams, the red and the blues and the reds won.

A very busy  day , but everyone agreed very useful and enjoyable.
