What better way to start the new year than with a new project. Today is the start of our Health First Sefton project!
This project is going to focus on restarting our ‘Health Champions’ in Sefton. A team will refresh their knowledge in different areas of health over the next few weeks before joining forces with Sefton Council’s ‘Get Healthy Get Active’ programme to go out and tell other people with learning disabilities about the importance of keeping healthy.
In November 2015 we held interviews for a new worker to help us run our Health First Sefton project. We were delighted to give the job to Karen Brumskill who started work with us today.
Karen has got off to a flying start, she has set up the first meeting for the Health Champions for Thursday 14th January, 10am – 12pm. At the meeting The group will agree a personal work agreement, will discuss what kind of health issues they currently have knowledge of and what health issues they need to know more about. This will help the group to plan the future sessions before going out and delivering roadshows in April.
Karen said “I am so excited about this project and particularly happy that we have new Health Champions as well as using the knowledge of the more experienced champions. Can’t wait to meet everybody.”
Karen will be at the Get Involved group meeting in Sandbrook resource Centre on Friday 15th January to tell people more about the project.
We will be putting lots of stories and news articles about the Health First Sefton project over the next year.
If you like any more information about the project or would like to become a Health Champion you can call Karen on a Thursday or Friday 0151 329 2137.» Back to News
