On Tuesday evening Jeanette McHugh Development Worker for the Road Ahead, was invited along to see some of the other Leonard Cheshire Can Do projects that are going on in Merseyside.
Jeanette went to meet ‘Taste Buddies’ – a group of young people who are learning to cook and are looking to set up their own social enterprise at the end of the course.
Jeanette said “It was great, everyone in the group was so fun and friendly and the food was fabulous! The group have designed and made their own aprons, they showed me some photos of food they have already made meatballs, fritattas and cupcakes. This week the group made pizzas which were lush and Adam made us hot chocolate and cookies. Next week is chocolate brownies – they sound gorgeous!
It was fantastic to meet up with Liam, Amstel, Helen and Owen again and I’m really excited as Helen is looking to join the Road Ahead and I’m meeting her this week!
We are really looking forward to working in Sefton and hope to keep up these amazing contacts we have made through Vickie Yavuz at Leonard Cheshire. Tomorrow I am going to The Living Well Centre to meet another group who are doing a drumming and music workshop – it sounds amazing – I can’t wait!
It was great fun and I hope that we can go back soon and taste some more of the scrumptious treats! A MASSIVE thank you to Vickie from Leonard Cheshire and Leanne from Aiming High Sefton for introducing me to everyone.”
