On Monday 3rd August we began our usual round of vocal warm ups and singing in rounds and harmonies. Our new song of the week was “If Your Happy and You Know It!”, with a mix of some of our other favouries “Soft Kitty” “London’s Burning” and “Michael Row Your Boat Ashore”. By the time we have warmed our voices up we are feeling fantastic and ready for anything.
We were lucky enough to have one of the Soloists from the In Another Place Gospel Choir come along to sing with us. Steph had kindly come along to help us practise for the forthcoming Adelphi Gala Dinner where the Friends and Voices Choir and the In Another Place Gospel Choir will be headlining the evening. Steph was superb and she sang the solo parts whilst we did the choruses to:
- “Don’t You Worry Child”
- “Stand By Me”
- “Little Help From My Friends”
- “You are Beautiful”
The members of our Choir are now going to think about if they would like to sing solo parts and which songs they would like to do. It really gave us a feel for what we need to do next!
We then had our Karaoke King and Queen section and we had a massive range of song choices from people. Eddie Rauer chose to sing “I Don’t Know Why I Love You But I Do” followed by Derek who sang “One Man Went to Mow a Meadow”. Alex sang “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion. We had a trio of Adam, Phil and Michael singing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” which didn’t impress some of our blue-hearted members!! Paul Williams treated us all to “Like A Prayer” and another trio of Nicola, Lesley and Phil doing the dance they had learned to “Saturday Night Fever” from the New Directions Drama Group. We finished with Sarah singing “So What” by Pink that you can see on the People First Merseyside Facebook page.
MB who had only come to the Choir for the 1st time said “It was just perfect! I really enjoyed it and I will be coming again.”
Adam who had got up to sing said “It was great to stand up.”
