Even though it was a miserable day outside – more like a cold Autumn morning than a July afternoon we had 22 of our members come along to the Friends and Voices Choir for a truly memorable afternoon of choir practise! It was a sensational day!
Most importantly we all sang “Happy Birthday” to one of our members Geraldine Crawley – hope you had a wonderful birthday Geraldine!
This was followed by our routine of vocal warmups and singing in rounds and harmonies. Luckily for us Sarah Ashcroft is a huge fan of “The Big Bang Theory” and had the words to “Soft Kitty” on her t-shirt so led us all in that! We learned a new song to sing in rounds called “Nisa”.
Susan played Kumbayah on the keyboard for the group and then we sang our own extremely funny People First Merseyside version of Kumbayah!!
We sang some fabulous tunes “Stand By Me”, “Simply The Best”, “We Will Rock You” and our new song of the week was “Gonna Be Alright”which was superb.
What is fantastic about our members who come to choir is:
- We are dedicated
- We come on time and stay until the end
- We help and support each other
- We encourage each other
- We work hard
- We have fun
Each week we have the Karaoke King or Queen spot and this week we had solos from Derek, Lesley, Phil, Kimberley and Rebecca! Well done everyone!
We are working towards our next performance at our Adelphi Gala Dinner on the 9th October – watch this space!
