Sefton – Hate Crime Event

Lots of us attended the Police Crime Commissioners Hate crime awareness event yesterday at Sing Plus in Crosby.

We heard about what work is happening to tackle hate crime in Sefton including the work of the Criminal Justice Board.

We met Chief Superintendent Peter Costello and Gerrie McConaghy who talked about how important it is to tackle Hate Crime in Sefton.

We heard all about Stop Hate UK which is a natonal helpline for people to call if they are a victim or a witness to a hate crime.

We all got to go in to a police van we wore the uniform and held the riot shields and sat in the cell.

In the afternoon we worked in group to talk about our experiences of hate crime and what we think our the priorities for stopping hate crime.

We had a great day.
