On Tuesday 15th October 2015 People First Merseyside were excited and delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor of Liverpool Councillor Erica Kemp to our monthly coffee morning at Weatherspoons on Charlotte Street. We were doubly honoured as Mrs Abi Pointing the High Sheriff of Merseyside also came along to meet our members too.
Paul Walsh Co-Chair of People First Merseyside introduced the Lord Mayor to the members of the group. The group really enjoyed the opportunity to meet and speak with the Lord Mayor and to talk about why they love People First Merseyside and the massive impact it has on peoples lives.
People were thrilled to meet The High Sheriff and find out more about her job. It was such a privilege to have the Queen’s Representative on Merseyside to take time to speak with us and listen to what we have to say. Shirley Jones a new member of People First Merseyside had the chance to speak to the High Sheriff of Merseyside and tell her what a difference People First has made in her life . Shirley said “We don’t really know what people like that do and it was interesting to find out. She was just a lovely, friendly person. I think she really listened to everything we said and really took on board the things we said about the problems we had. It was a really interesting day.”
The aim of the day was to consult about Health. Thank you to Suzanne Robinson and Vivian Mansfield from Merseycare and Inez Bootsgezel from Healthwatch Liverpool who helped to facilitate the day and to find out more about the health issues of people with a learning disability in Liverpool. It was fantastic to work with you.
Thank you to all of the staff at Weatherspoons and their continued support, kindness and professionalism.
Finally a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who came, our members, parents and supporters of People First Merseyside – it was an incredible and memorable day.» Back to News
