As part of the Da Da Fest Lisa and Patrick were asked to be part of a discussion panel following a film called ‘Yo Tambien’ at the FACT cinema. The film was made in Spain about a man with Down’s Syndrome who is looking for love.
The film also featured lots of other actors with learning disabilities and the relationships they have.
The film was also an experiment, as the film was in Spanish with subtitles Da Da wanted to see if having earpieces with someone reading out the subtitles would make the film more accessible.
Patrick, Lisa and Michael, who watched all said that the earpieces were a great idea and they worked well.
At the end of the film Patrick and Lisa were asked to take part in a discussion panel along with representatives from BOLD (Being out with Learning Disabilities).
They talked about what work we have done at People First Merseyside around Sex and Relationships and how we challenge the stereotypes.
